If the software is an update to an earlier version of the Adobe software (the previous version), the customer`s use of that update depends on maintaining the previous version. Therefore, if the customer validly transmits this update in accordance with section 4.6, the customer must transfer the previous version with it. If the customer wants to use this update in addition to the previous version, the customer can only use this update on the same computer on which they installed and used the previous version. Any obligations Adobe may have to support earlier versions during the term of the license may end with the availability of this update. No other use of the update is allowed. Additional updates may be granted by the Adobe customer with additional or different terms. 16.8.3 For each single expanded document, either the customer may only provide such an extended document for an unlimited number of unique recipients, but the customer may not retrieve or cause the information to come from more than five hundred (500) unique instances of such expanded document or a printed presentation of such expanded document containing completed form fields; are extracted; or (b) provide such document extended to no more than five hundred (500) unique recipients without limiting the frequency with which customer may retrieve information from such expanded document, which is returned to the customer completed by such recipients. Notwithstanding otherwise, purchasing additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite does not increase the above limits (i.e., if .b. the above limits are the total limits, regardless of the number of additional licenses the customer may have obtained for using Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite. Some have interpreted this as a strategy for Adobe to force its users to upgrade, whether they like it or not. However, users should not have to upgrade. 4.8 Restrictions for Adobe Runtime.
The customer cannot use Adobe Runtimes on a non-PC device or with an embedded or device version of an operating system. For the avoidance of doubt, Customer may not use Adobe Runtimes on (a) mobile devices, set top boxes, handhelds, phones, game consoles, televisions, DVD players, media centers (except with Windows XP Media Center Edition and its successors), electronic billboards or other digital signs, Internet devices or other devices connected to the Internet, PDAs, medical device, breathing, telematics, slot machine, home automation, kiosk, remote control or any other device connected to the Internet and consumer electronic device; (b) operator-based mobile, cable, satellite or television systems; or (c) another device for closed systems. . . .
